Application of Foam Concrete

Foam concrete, also called lightweight concrete, is obtained by mixing cement paste and foaming agent. Large amounts of closed porosity come into being in the concrete after natural curing process. This kind of concrete is lighter and gives good heat insulation performance. It’s widely applied as energy-saving wall materials like lightweight wall board, compensatory base and heat preservation layer of buildings.

Specifically speaking, foam concrete covers the following range of application. First, it serves as retaining wall to support earth and keep it in a stable state. Second, it functions as raw materials for playgrounds and running tracks. In the building of the playground it is usually covered with a thin layer of artificial turf. For running tracks a layer of asphalt and plastics is placed on the foam concrete. Third, it can be used as sandwich structure. Fourth, it’s perfect back-filling materials for deserted oil wells, pipelines and other empty holes that may cause fire or landslide if left untreated. Fifth, it turns out to be excellent material for slope roof owing to its light weight, low cost and quick mixture with other construction materials. Sixth, landscaping also offers application opportunity for foam concrete, which is made into artificial hills, dust bins and benches in public places like gardens and communities.
